Here is the video from Friday’s press conference where RNC Chairman Michael Steele, Governor Haley Barbour, and other Mississippi elected officials were on hand to welcome five-term Neshoba County Chancery Clerk Larry McMillan’s switch from the Democratic Party to the Mississippi Republican Party.
Here is what the Clarion Ledger reported.
Larry McMillan, a five-term chancery clerk from Neshoba County, announced his switch from Democrat to Republican on Friday – a move he attributed to being fed up with the Democratic Party’s push for health care reform. “I consider myself a conservative,” he said. “I’m very concerned about health care and about taxes.” McMillan said he’s not worried whether the switch could hurt his chances of re-election. “If folks don’t accept it, that’s just the way it will have to be,” he said.
