Barack Obama is working to get his new best buddy Travis Childers elected to Congress. I highly doubt the people of North Mississippi want to elect an Obama supporter today but we shall see.
This most likely hurts Childers a lot more than it helps him.

This doesn’t surprise me. The party in power that wants to gain seats must reach out across the isle and the party that loses seats further restricts its members.
This happened in ’94 where Democrats began ousting their conservative members through primaries while Republicans moderated them selves taking in liberal and centrists, the result Republicans won the house and senate.(the Republicans made gains even in the Northeast which was supposed to be a Democratic Strong hold)
Now the tables have turned and it is the Democrats reaching out to conservatives to run for congress while Republicans have been kicking out the liberal and centrist members(Wayne Gilchrest and Joe Schwarz are some good examples)Politics of division and inclusion often hurt a parties chance of making gains.
(Now democrats are starting to look competitive in South with races like this one and
La-06,La-04, Al-02.
I mean has Davis gotten the endorsement of his primary opponent yet? no\
But don’t look at this the wrong way, politics is cyclical, if Dems continue to pad their majorities this election, it will only lead to Republican gains in 2010 midterms

Yes McCullough did endorse Davis in a letter to his supporters last week. We just have not found a copy of it yet
